Tuesday, December 08, 2009 Charleston, SC At the MegaDock.

Slept in a little today then after coffee I went up top and got the paper and put it on the table for Wayne and went for a walk with my camera. Spotted Hampshire Rose at anchor, then stopped and chatted with Rob on Jade East. He has his foulies on for their journey today (styling) – scattered showers are predicted. I discovered that Tiva doesn’t photograph well. She’s black and looks like a little black smudge on the camera LOL. I helped him cast off and took a couple pictures of both boats. Wayne spent the morning & early afternoon going over the paper (he’s feeling news deprived – I can tell) and working the puzzle. I thought there was a strange rain front in the early afternoon. I kept hearing raindrops pelt the boat and when I looked out the port windows only half the dock was wet. After an hour of this I finally slid the hatch open to find that the mega yacht across from us was washing his boat and kept hosing us. So much for the strange weather pattern most the morning and early afternoon. He noticed me looking at him from the hatch and said “sorry”. He spent all day cleaning that boat. I’d guess the boss is showing up tonight or something. After he realized there were actually people on this boat, he was a little more considerate of directing his hose.

Today was just a busy day for me. Breakfast, dishes, then cleaning, laundry, and looking for my address book kept me busy all day. About the time I went to do laundry, it actually started raining – for real this time. Wayne spent the afternoon trying to figure out what was wrong with our electric system. It’s supposed to be set up so #1 battery only is used for starting the engine. #2 battery switch is for the house bank that’s supposed to run everything else. Unfortunately it looks like our starting battery is running down overnight along with the house bank. We weren’t able to start yesterday morning until the wind generator created some power. Curious. He wasn’t able to isolate the problem.

This evening after I got back with the laundry, the boat was really hobby horsing along the dock. The motion was like a sloshing bowl inside the boat and there was no way I was going to stand at the stove cooking. Sandwiches are the menu item tonight. This motion is making my stomach uncomfortable and my head dizzy.
