Friday - Sunday 10/16 - 10/18: A quick trip back home...

Friday, October 16, 2009

We managed to get through all the hiding places on the boat today. No sign of our missing radar or chart plotter.  Oh oh…
I was in the marina lounge when Wayne came and told me they were nowhere on board therefore they must still be at home.
We packed up my computer and headed back for the boat. One more thorough search and then a search on the web for cheap rates on car rentals back home. We ended up back at Avis and Ingrid is taking us to the airport tomorrow morning to get the car. We booked with her to pick us back up at the airport Monday morning to bring us back to the boatyard – we’re fast becoming good customers with her.
On a good note, it’s supposed to rain here all weekend so we can’t get much exterior work done even if we were here. Can’t believe we’re driving all the way back again.

On the road again, just can’t wait to get back on the road again….
Sing along with Patti and Willy Nelson.
Ingrid picked us up at 8am and we had the car at  9 and were on the road to home again.  While there is still a Roy Rogers Restaurant in PA on the turnpike there's only one - heading east. The return trip didn’t yield one on the westbound service plaza of the turnpike (insert sad face here). We made good time following the directions to Deltaville back to Michigan (a 12 hour trip) until we got to Ohio. Once we left the turnpike we ended up getting lost in the cornfields and wheat fields of Ohio.  I got to watch farmers harvesting their crops at night under brilliant lights… all I can say is “man, they put in some lonnnnng days”.  We got home a little after 11pm (2 hour tour of the farm fields) and it was cccccccold.  We found the missing instruments, all snug as a bug in the back bedroom under the covers, which is where I wanted to be.  So  it’s time to bury my nose under the warm covers until morning.  I just remembered that I had a webinar (class) tonight at 7pm on AIS L dang… missed that one and I really wanted to take that one too.

The drive back to Deltaville was uneventful. The ride is starting to become quite familiar. I got to see the folded and fractured rocks, beautiful colors and scenery and got to eat at Roy Roger’s again. The day was spent on driving and fast food.
