The winds have died down (not that we feel them in the boatyard where we are) so the next few days sound like great sailing days for those out there with 8-15 knots from the ENE with seas less than 6 feet and 85 degrees. Azaya will make great time to which ever island they’re heading for!
Aurora definitely has a swarm of bees that have decided to setup shop in their binnacle cover. I’ve not been able to figure out a way to get them off the boat without hurting them so emailed H & M to see what they’d like us to do.
I’m starting to feel like a feeding trough! Each night, I slather on the bug repellent and each night I still get bitten to death by the mosquitoes and no see ums. I’m just an itching machine.
Oh oh - bees in the binnacle cover... wonder if they have any honey... |
I finished up my splicing chores today (3 strand so didn't need fids). Wayne wanted a hook on our dinghy painter so I got that finished and found myself walking to the store just to get out of the heat. We got the motor on the dinghy, and the dinghy is now on its davits. Wayne put a pole up with our light on it before hoisting it up. It looks pretty cool.
On one of my trips I saw the CNN news headline while standing at the checkout. 20 school children were gunned down and killed along with 6 adults. A 20 year old walked into an elementary school and killed a class of kindergarteners. My God. I got to hear it later on the news when we went to the patio for pizza. We watched the news over dinner as they said that he’d killed his mother (a teacher at the school) at home then went to the school and shot up possibly her class of little ones.
The pizza was good but it was difficult at times to swallow while listening to the events of the day unfold. I can’t imagine what those parents were going through waiting for their babies to come out of the school and when they didn’t, realizing that they’d never see their little one alive again…
