Saturday, January 02, 2010 Vero Beach

Brrr… Let me repeat – BRRRRR… It got down close to freezing last night (34*) and the port windows were doing their little condensation dance on Wayne’s head. My head was tucked beneath the covers. It looks like the next few days are going to be cold. We have freeze warnings out for tonight for the surrounding areas and some inland areas may see 20 degrees. Not good for the citrus or produce belt. The forecast for here is for 34 degrees again.

We caught the bus into town and did some price shopping between Walmart and Sam’s Club to see who had the better price on what. It would appear, that Sam’s has the better prices on just about everything we checked (except for pop). While at Sam’s we got a couple of their famous Nathanial hot dogs for lunch before tackling Walmarts for pop and beer. Walmart’s had 2 liter bottles of Root Beer on sale, so we got that, some beer and a rotisserie chicken for dinner then hustled out to catch the 1:15pm bus. We unfortunately just missed it so had to wait an hour for the last bust of the day (Saturday the bus schedule is shortened). Man it was cold… Sitting on the bench, waiting on the bus, another guy was trying to jockey his bags around (combining this and that) and having problems with only two hands so I offered assistance while chatting with him about the cold. It was weird because after that, he gave me a dollar and insisted that I take it! It’s been a long time since anyone’s given me a tip. It was weird.

Back to the marina and a cold dinghy ride back to the boat to unload the liquid refreshment. At 4:30 I was hungry and ready for dinner. Ate two cookies. By 7pm (time for dinner), I had no appetite. I ate a leg and ½ a breast & left the rest for Wayne.
