Season 2 - Monday, October 12, 2009

All the last minute stuff today – gas treatment, oil change, pick up vehicle from Avis at the Airport, pack the vehicle with half the stuff, decide that ½ a trucks worth of stuff coming from the boat is not going to fit into an SUV and unpack the vehicle. Fret, call Avis, get a van, and repack the stuff into the van with all the other stuff. Don’t open any of the doors or it will all fall out. Last meal at home – grill steaks with onions, mixture of broccoli, carrots, peppers, and macaroni and cheese.
Where did the summer go?

Back home for hurricane season.

Unpack.

Coffee with Alli, lunch with the girls, brief visits with Aunt Joyce, a fall festival with Joyce and Penny, doctor visits, work on the house.

Time to pack again.

It felt like a summer of loss.

Cousin Chuckie – a lost soul that while mistreated in life, managed to survive so much for so long. If there is peace after death I hope he found it.

Bob Atkinson - one of my foster fathers that taught me what a father could be. I should have seen him one more time this summer but didn’t make it there soon enough before he died. I was a week late.

Danny Redmon - father of my nephew and someone that if I actually think about it changed the course of my life. I never said it before, never felt it, but thank you Dan. You were one of those moments in time that changed my life.

Bobby Burton – a principal at the high school that worked well with the students. I think he will be missed there. We didn’t always see eye to eye, but worked well together for the kids.
